‘Enhance Med facilities in hospitals’

JAMMU, Oct 14: The Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) has expressed it’s serious concern over the situation emanating from the many grave issues that are confronting the citizens of Jammu in general and the business community in particular during this Corona pandemic period.
In a meeting held in the Chamber office here today, the members while appreciating the prompt measures announced by the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha after the special committee headed by K K Sharma, Advisor submitted it’s report, expressed their great disappointment that the seriousness in implementing many of the measures announced is apparently lacking at the administrative level.
The members expressed concern over the fact that while the Government of India has repeatedly stated that there will be no restrictions on movement of people and traffic from one State to another, the UT Administration has inexplicably created such conditions where people have to wait for hours together at Lakhanpur while entering the UT resulting in undue hardship and harassment to the common man.
The chamber appealed the Lt. Governor to intervene and rectify the situation urgently.
Another burning issue confronting the citizens is the lack of adequate medical facilities during this period. Instead of providing additional facilities to cater to the increased demand it is a travesty that the health authorities are not even able to maintain the available facilities properly resulting in huge suffering to the common public. Urgent measures must be taken in this direction to ensure safety of human lives.
The JCCI has questioned the wisdom of introducing few anti- people measures which have a direct impact on the economic condition of the common man who is fighting against all odds during this period to keep body and soul together. Even fending for the family is a gigantic task today. The Chamber requests the Lt. Governor to keep in abeyance the introduction of the property tax on urban property and also the order whereby a borrower is supposed to pay registration fees on the total value of the mortgaged property instead of the value of the loan amount which was being paid earlier.
The Chamber also requested the Government that in view of the present crisis, the Amnesty Scheme for VAT defaulters which is expiring on October 31, 2020 be extended upto the end of the present financial year.
