SRINAGAR, Aug 28: Principal Secretary to Govt. Alok Kumar, after taking the charge of the Education Department, during his maiden visit to Baramulla inaugurated the newly constructed Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) Sultandaki at Uri.
The building has been completed at a cost of Rs. 1.39 Crores under Samagra Shiksha with additional funding under JKIDFC. The Principal Secretary was accompanied by Director School Education Kashmir Tassaduq Hussain, and Project Director Samagra Shiksha Er. Deep Raj, besides Er. Harvinder Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Uri, Ghulam Mohd Lone Chief Education Officer Baramulla, BDC Chairperson Uri and Tariq Abdullah Executive Engineer SED-I.
After inaugurating the 100 Bedded KGBV, the Principal Secretary interacted with the inmates of the KGBV and expressed his satisfaction regarding amenities being made available for girl students,. He stressed for the maintenance of cleanliness, proper personal hygiene and upkeep of the KGBV. He directed the Chief Education Officer, to make best arrangements of the Management Staff, so that the students may feel comfortable in the KGBV. He also enquired about the modus operandi, to be adopted by the Department in KGBVs and advised to conduct special evening classes.
While interacting with the media, Kumar said that, School Education Department has completed 62 KGBV hostels out of the sanctioned 89 KGBVs in 89 Educationally Backward Blocks, all over the UT with the financial implication of Rs. 52.30 crores. He said that rest of KGBVs shall also be completed in the next 6-8 months and School Education Department is making continuous efforts in bringing the students of UT of J&K, at par with the students of other parts of the country. He said that, the improvement in the National Achievement Ranking from 17th Rank to 6th Rank in 2121-22, has added a new feather to the School Education. Department, which has further encouraged the morale of the teaching staff. He further reiterated that, rationalization of Teaching staff is on cards and shall be done only, where there is any exigency and a teacher has to contribute wherever he/she is posted.
He reiterated that, quality infrastructure in the academic institutions even in the remotest areas of the UT of JK will be made available and stressed for improving the academic standard with various interventions through Teaching fraternity, to make best use of available resources.
He also informed that, this year around 20 Virtual Reality labs, 02 Model Resource Rooms and allied infrastructure shall be made available to the students, to boost the scientific Temper. He further advised Students and Teachers to adopt innovative and experiential method for making teaching-learning more meaningful and effective.
