Altaf expresses concern over lack of supervision, slow pace of work

SRINAGAR, July 27: Minister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari conducted a late evening visit of various areas of Srinagar city to take appraisal of progress on various developmental works in progress under different schemes.
Expressing dismay over the lack of supervision at the construction site of Grade Separator at Radio Kashmir Crossing, Bukhari stressed on the executing agency not only to expedite the work in multiple shifts but ensure proper monitoring and supervision for its early completion.
CEO ERA, DC Srinagar, Director ERA, SSP Srinagar, SSP Traffic and other senior sectoral officers accompanied the Minister.
At construction of Grade Separator site, Bukhari was told that the project was to be completed within one year from the date of laying of foundation stone but due to some unavoidable circumstances the work got hampered.
The CEO ERA informed that so far 45-50% progress has been achieved on construction of Grade Separator and work is underway round the clock to ensure early completion of the project.
In order to ensure minimal hindrance to traffic movement on the road, the Minister directed ERA officers to start barricading for laying of pier P1 by 29th July and must ensure its completion by 12th August, 2017.
Later, the Minister inspected progress of work on construction of Rs 339 Crore Expressway Corridor from Jehangir Chowk to Rambagh where work was also in full swing during the late night.
He was informed by CEO ERA that 62%- 67% progress has been achieved on the project and till date Rs 175.79 crores have been spent on the 2.5 Km long prestigious infrastructure project.
The Minister directed JKERA to ensure that the project is commissioned in full by December 2017.
The Minister issued directions that the left tube of the Solina Bazaar presently closed for vehicular traffic should be premixed and open for traffic by August 10.
Later, the Minister inspected the work on mega drainage project in Lal Chowk being funded under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme.
The Minister expressed his displeasure over slow pace of work and lack of supervision at the site. He asked the officers of the executing agency to ensure timely completion of the project through proper monitoring and supervision at the highest level in the department.
Bukhari directed the concerned officers to improve the pace and monitoring of the construction works in these areas. He directed the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar to conduct frequent visits to different sites of mega projects to ensure their completion in time.
The Minister also visited different sites in Rajbagh-Armwari to take stock of macadamization work. On his visit to Armwari, he assured a delegation of the locals that the remaining part of Bund road connecting Armwari with Kursoo will be macadamized on priority.
