NEW DELHI, Mar 14: Minister for Public Works, Floriculture and Gardens & Parks Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today took a detailed review of the status of properties owned by Jammu and Kashmir Government at New Delhi.
The review was followed by an inspection of all the building blocks of Jammu and Kashmir House at Chanakya Puri.
The Chief Engineer Public Works Jammu, Abdul Hamid Shiekh during the meeting gave a detailed power point presentation about the status of J&K Government properties located at different places in the country.
The Minister of State for Public Works Sunil Kumar Sharma, Member Parliament Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Nazir Ahmad Laway and Shamsher Singh Manhas were present in the meeting.
Senior officers of the Public Works and Hospitality & Protocol Departments attended the meeting.
During the inspection of JK House, the Minister took stock of renovation and repairs works of the all three blocks. He instructed the concerned officers to obtain permission from New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) for extension of Block-C of the complex, adding that extension of the block would add additional accommodation of 18 rooms for visitors.
He said that the existing accommodation was not sufficient to cater to the growing needs of the visitors arriving in the capital from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions for different purposes, particularly for advanced treatment. Mr. Bukhari observed that the primary and important requirement of the people arriving in Delhi is accommodation, adding the Government would take necessary measures to overcome this problem.
The Minister directed the concerned officers to keep reseved 10 rooms of the extended block with separate pantries and kitchens for the visiting people of the state.. He also directed for conversion of one block into three suits and construction of additional four suits adjoining B-Block where a space is available for the construction.
Mr Bukhari asked the State Hospitality and Protocol Department for face lifting of the JK House and proper maintenance of all its rooms.
Stressing on the importance of preventive measures, Mr. Bukhari instructed the officers to put in place the fire fighting mechanism in all the blocks and residential quarters in order to face any eventuality. He also directed for upgradation of sanitation and sewerage disposal in and around the complex.
