Talking to reporters at a hurriedly called press conference here today Kavinder Gupta alleged that the step for the formation of Government has been initiated by a leader from Valley sitting in Dubai on the directions from Pakistan. BJP also wanted a popular Government in the State but not after ignoring the mandate of all three regions of the State, he stressed.
Gupta was flanked by BJP State general secretaries, Dr. Narinder Singh and Yudhvir Sethi, during press conference.
Gupta said that the so called main stream regional political parties of the State have failed to uphold the virtues of democracy in the State after boycotting the biggest democratic exercise undertaken by the State after the lapse of a decade. Rather than encouraging the people to participate in the ULB and Panchayat elections to strengthen grass root level democracy in the State, those political parties tried all the tricks in their bag to scuttle the process promoting their agenda of dynastic and separatist politics. The successful conduct of these elections without any violence and large scale participation by the people has not only sent shock waves across the leadership of these parties but has also send a strong message to them that the people of this State have firm faith in democracy, said Gupta. These parties have not only been rejected by the people, which was evident by large number contesting the elections, but have also lost much political space and their acceptance across the State, he added.
Kavinder said the need of the hour is for an alternative political dispensation that represents Kashmir region. The emergence of the 3rd front to fill this prevailing political vacuum in the State is a welcome step and needs support of all nationalists and pro-democracy people from Valley .
The founding member of PDP Muzzaffar Hussain Beigh has admitted that PDP has failed to take the middle ground route for which it was founded after the failure of NC in the State. The frank admission of a very senior politician of the State clearly explains the prevailing political scenario and the need for an alternative. Welcoming the statement of PM Modi that “ballot has prevailed over bullets in Kashmir”, Gupta said, that the yearning for democracy displayed by the people needs to be respected by the political class by providing them an inclusive and non-partisan Government in the State.
