Apropos to the news item “Alumni Meet” published in this paper on 9th Oct. It is a matter of pleasure and inspiration as such meet is first of its kind in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. Let us salute the organizers of the meet for nobel motivational idea. Such meets provide a stage for the teachers to interact with their students who achieve marvelous positions in the society on one hand and an opportunity to the students to pay respect and due obligations to their teachers, who are instrumental in shaping their career. The teaching community feels proud when ever their products becomes a public face in the society and in turn inspire the next generation to follow the footsteps. Similarly, the students also feel proud to be student of such teachers. By producing distinguished personalities in every field of the society who become instrumental in shaping the society and Nation as a whole, the teachers are credited as the real builders of the nation. I hope that this attempt will become a subject for the teaching community to debate on. However, what is required at their level is to embed these impressions in the hearts of the present student community who in turn will have respect for teachers. Presently, deterioration is being felt at both levels.
