JAMMU, July 13: Amandeep Hospital Amritsar conducted free women cancer screening and consultation camp at its super speciality OPD clinic at Gandhi Nagar, here.
During the camp, more than 50 patients benefited. 35 women with different cancers like breast cancer, cervical cancer and ovarian cancer were examined by Dr Rajinder Kaur Saggu, Consultant Breast and Gynae. Mammographies were conducted free of cost.
Amandeep Hospital, Amritsar also hosted women cancer survivor festival ”Festival of Hope”.
The camp was inaugurated by Rani Gargi Blowria, MLC in presence of Deputy Controller Drugs and Food Organisation, Planning Secretary, Director Higher Education, Regional Director IGNOU and other prominent persons.
According to Dr Rajinder Kaur Saggu, breast cancers arrise due to accumulation of damage to genes involved in controlling cell growth and DNA repair.
Our project women cancer awareness is reaching out to the women at their doorstep.
Dr Sandeep Kaur, Asstt Prof Radio Oncology at GMC Jammu highlighted the present scenario of women cancer patients in the State.
Dr Mirza, Gynaecologist from Jammu highlights the need of women oncologist.
“We want that more cancer patients get consultation about reconstruction after physical and emotional stress of their cancer treatment”, told Dr Samotra Former HoD Pharmacology, GMC, Jammu.
According to Dr Amandeep Kaur, Medical Director of Amandeep Hospital said that the programme aims to reduce barriers, which may prevent women from getting screened.
This project ensures that women have the opportunity to have same day pap testing after education session, as well as the opportunity to book a future pap or mammography appointment, Dr Manish Manocha, Group Head, J&K from Amandeep Hospital said.
