JAMMU, May 31: In today’s materialistic world, when the treatment is getting expensive day by day and most of the hospitals are focusing on earning huge profits, Amandeep Hospital is doing the noble job by providing low cost treatment to the down trodden and needy patients and thus saving many precious lives.
These words were expressed by Shamsher Singh (22) son of late Salwinder Singh, resident of village Parowal, district Gurdaspur, who met with an accident on February 27, 2017 and was admitted to Amandeep Hospital, Amritsar in a serious condition on April 20.
Financially the family was very poor as its lone bread earner was on bed due to fracture in both the legs. In this situation, the family even couldn’t dream to get Shamsher treated in a private hospital. Shamsher was taken to many hospitals but no one entertained him due to lack of money. After knocking all the doors, his mother, Gurdeep Kaur brought him to Amandeep Hospital and met Dr Avtar Singh.
Dr Avtar examined the patient and after evaluating family’s financial condition, he decided to operate Shamsher Singh free of cost. The family was asked to bear just the cost of medicines. Now Shamsher is all right and getting discharged.
Shamsher Singh told media persons that like other people, he and his family was having an assumption that Amandeep Hospital is very costly and poor people can’t even dream to get treated here. When he was being shifted to Amandeep Hospital, people tried to stop them by saying that would the family be able to bear the heavy cost of treatment in Amandeep Hospital whereas the fact is just opposite, as orthopedic patients are treated at very reasonable rates here.
While talking to the media persons,  Dr Avtar Singh explained that the main motive of Amandeep Hospital is not earning huge profit but to improve health and reduce illness through patient centered quality healthcare that is accessible, comprehensive, appropriate and cost effective in an environment of continuous learning.
