JAMMU, July 15: An Amarnath pilgrim today died of suspected cardiac arrest while walking on New Bridge, Railway Station, Jammu.
According to a spokesperson of police station GRP Jammu, the deceased has been identified as Garish Raman Painter (56), son of Raman Painter, a resident of Dhanasuthar, Ahmedabad in Gujarat. He said, “The deceased along with his son and daughter in-law had come back after paying obeisance at Shri Amarnath Shrine. They had to leave for their home by catching a train from here this morning but before that the deceased suddenly fell unconscious at New Bridge on Railway Station Jammu”.
“In unconscious condition he was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead. After conducting postmortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites”, he added.
Quoting family members accompanying the deceased, the spokesperson said the deceased person was suffering from heart related diseases and he was already taking medicines. “A case under 174 Cr PC has been registered in this concern at concerned police station’, he added.
