JAMMU, May 19: Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K unit has demanded preference to locals for the arrangements and facilities of Shri Amarnath Yatra starting from June 29, 2024.
In a press conference here today Shiv Sena J&K chief, Manish Sahni has said that contracts are being given to companies from outside for arrangement of temporary toilets, baths, tents etc for Shri Amarnath Yatra 2024.
Sahni said that locals of Pahalgam and Baltal areas await whole year to get contracts for the arrangement of tents, horses, toilets etc for Shri Amarnath Yatra but for the last few years they are being ignored.
He said that the Shrine Board should remember that when terrorism was at its peak and no outside company was ready to come here, then the entire arrangements were done by the locals only which was also seen as Hindu-Muslim brotherhood.
The Shiv Sena leader also said that contracts to outside contractors had disappointed the locals.
He urged upon the Lieutenant Governor of J&K to give priority to locals for the arrangements of Shri Amarnath Yatra.
Shiv Sena general secretary, Vikas Bakshi; vice president, Sanjeev Kohli; president Kamgar, Raj Singh and secretary, Rajesh Handa were also present on the occasion.
