JAMMU:A fresh batch of 1,449 pilgrims today left for the Amarnath Cave shrine from Bhagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas base camp here.
“A batch of 1,449 pilgrims comprising 1,075 males, 214 females, 13 children, 135 sadhus, 12 sadhvis left for the cave shrine in a fleet of 42 vehicles,” a police spokesperson said.
He said the vehicles included 29 state road transport corporation (SRTC) buses and 13 light motor vehicles (LMVs).
The first bus left at 0840 hrs while the last bus left at 0845 hrs amid tight security arrangements. The yatra left few hours late from its scheduled time due to inclement weather, but moving smoothly, police spokesperson said. (AGENCIES)
