Amarnath yatra going on smoothly despite cloudy weather, rain

SRINAGAR : Despite cloudy weather and rain, the annual pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himlayas was going on smoothly as fresh batches left base camps this morning.
So far 3.57 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance before the self made Ice-Lingam in the cave shrine since the commencement of the yatra from June 28.    Yatra officials said that a fresh batch of 528 yatris, including women and sadhus, left Baltal base camp early this morning for the cave shrine despite cloudy weather and intermittent rain.
The pilgrims after covering the hilly distance on foot will reach the cave shrine this afternoon.    They said that pilgrims, who had night halt at cave shrine after having darshan till last evening, also started their return journey this morning.    A fresh batch of 605 yatris, including sadhus and women, also left Nunwan Pahalgam base camp this morning for Chandanwari, the motorable halting station on traditional track.
Pilgrims, who had night halt at different halting stations, including Chandanwari, also started their journey towards the shrine this morning.    Officials said that a fresh batch of pilgrims reached the cave shrine today after having night halt at Panjterni.    Twenty-eight yatris visited the cave shrine by air till 1130 hrs, they said.
They said yesterday 2,605 pilgrims pay obeisance at the Holy Cave
With this, a total of 3, 57 pilgrims have paid obeisance at the Holy Cave shrine since June 28. (AGENCIES)
