Amarnath Yatra resumes, fresh batch of 4,633 pilgrims leaves from Jammu

JAMMU :  A fresh batch of 4,633 pilgrims today left for the  Holy Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas base camp after the yatra resumed here after two days.
The yatra from Jammu  remained suspended for two consecutive days in view of closed national highway due to landslides triggered by rains.
“A batch of 4,633 pilgrims  comprising 3,302 males, 1,012 females, 80 children, 215 sadhus, 23 sadhvis  left for the cave shrine in a fleet of 119 vehicles,” a police spokesperson  here said.       He said the vehicles included 100 State Road Transport  Corporation (SRTC) buses and 19 Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs).
The first bus  left at 0510 hrs while the last bus left at 0532 hrs amid tight security  arrangements.       The yatra is going on smoothly on the highway, he  said. (AGENCIES)_
