Amarnath yatra touches 3.25 lakh

JAMMU, July 27: As pilgrimage to holy cave shrine of Amarnath ji completed 30 days, 3424 pilgrims performed darshan at the holy cave shrine in Anantnag district of South Kashmir Himalayas today.
With this, total number of pilgrims, who have performed yatra during this year’s annual pilgrimage has gone up to 3,24,221.
The yatra was progressing smoothly, official sources said, adding the weather was normal during the day today.
Meanwhile, one more pilgrim has died after paying obeisance at the holy cave shrine taking death toll in the ongoing yatra to 12, sources said.
They said Krishan Kumar Pawar, 74, a resident of Jagjeet Nagar, New Delhi fell ill after darshan at the holy cave.
After providing initial treatment to the ailing yatri at medical camp set up near the cave shrine, authorities shifted him to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), where he died.
Another batch of 440 devotees today left the Jammu base camp for the Amarnath cave shrine this morning.
A convoy of 16 vehicles, carrying the 30th batch of 440 devotees, left the Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar at around 4:50 am to pay obeisance at the cave shrine in the Kashmir Valley.
The batch included 284 men, 62 women and eight children, apart from 86 priests. They reached the twin base camps of Pahalgam and Baltal late this evening.
