JAMMU, Oct 2: All Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AMCCC) in its meeting has expressed grave concern over the failure of authorities to pay compensation to family of Lalita Raina, wife of Bushan Lal Raina who was knocked to death by a daughter of a police officer at Gandhi Nagar over a month back.
The AMCCC chief Desh Rattan said that the authorities had assured to pay compensation to bereaved family after the people protested for entire day at Durga Nagar and blocked road by squatting on it along with dead body demanding the justice to the family as the car was run by the minor who happens to be the daughter of a police officer and which under law is an offence.
He said an FIR was registered in Gandhi Nagar Police Station and the authorities during the negotiations with the family members and other prominent people of the area had assured to pay compensation to bereaved family but till date no headway has been made in this regard.
The AMCCC warned that it will launch agitation and family will be forced to move to court of law for justice as the accident amounts to murder as under law no minor can drive a vehicle.
The AMCCC in an appeal to DG Police has sought his immediate intervention in the matter and demanded justice for the family.
The meeting also expressed grave concern over the plight of Hindus in Pakistan who are facing atrocities through the hands of fundamentalists and authorities. It urged the Union Government to take up the issue with Pak authorities.
