JAMMU, Dec 16: Accusing both State and Central Governments of ignoring the genuine demands of the displaced Pandits from Valley, All Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AMCCC) today warned to launch agitation for settlement of long pending demands of the community.
This was announced at a press conference by Core Committee members of the AMCCC led by its president Desh Rattan here, today.
He alleged that the successive Governments have ignored the hapless KPs since 1947 and after being a silent spectator to our mass exodus in 1989-90, the Central and State Governments added to the woes of the community by depriving us of their share in employment, failed to restore our land and property including the orchards which have been encroached by anti social elements.
He said the slogan of Kashmiriyat have proved hollow for the minority Pandits and we have no faith on such slogans as every Government and political party exploited our sentiments by making hollow promises on the rehabilitation but failed to take any concrete step till date.
He said those parties who have created a hue and cry in Parliament and disrupted its functioning during the Winter Session owe an explanation that why they maintained the silence over the ethnic cleansing of KPs.
Alleging that the Pandits became target of increasing fundamentalism in valley Desh Rattan demanded that Pandits be given adequate compensation for the losses of property, land, orchards etc. He said the losses suffered by the community regarding its left over property are not less than Rs 5000 crore per year in shape of crop, fruit etc and government should fully compensate the same.
Those present in the press conference were B LSharma, vice president, AMCCC, B L Koul its vice chairman, Manmohan Kanth, organizer,  Bittu Ji Bhat spokesperson, Ashok Sharma, Daljeet Singh, Roop Krishan etc.
