Amid border talks; Pak targets Indian posts in Poonch

JAMMU : Amid ongoing Indo-Pak border talks, in yet another ceasefire violation, Pakistan again targeted forward posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Pakistan fired unprovoked along the LoC in forward areas of Balakot and Poonch Sectors late last night from 2300 hrs onwards, Defence spokesman here today said.

He said Pakistan fired small arms and heavy machine gun fire, adding, “own troops appropriately retaliated while no casualty or damage has been reported in exchange of fire.

An Army jawan on September 10 was critically injured when he was hit by a sniper shot fired from across the fence by the Pakistani Army in Krishna Ghati of Poonch district.

here is no respite from border shelling as Pakistan is continuously violating the ceasefire along the Line of Control in Poonch sector.

India and Pakistan yesterday during their bilateral DG-level talks decided to resolve sensitive issues like ceasefire violations and infiltration along the border by quickly getting in touch with each other over email and mobile, besides agreeing on some new CBMs.        However, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had said that India wants peace with all neighbouring countries, including Pakistan, and will not fire the first bullet but asked the Rangers to ensure no infiltration takes place from their side.
