Shillong, Oct 10: Managing Director J&K SIDCO Amit Sharma represented the State in a five-day Corporate Governance MDP held at Indian Institute of Management, Shillong in Meghalaya wherein he shared lot of cases-studies and anecdotes about Jammu & Kashmir in this prestigious program.
He was the only officer from J&K who attended this program which was held for enhancing skills of selected executives and heads of SLPEs working in different PSUs from all across the nation.
He shared his experiences and challenges he was facing while heading this premier industrial development corporation of J&K and mentioned about various corporate practices which are being introduced by him in order to inculcate more professionalism and ease of doing business through J&K SIDCO. Alongside him, Company Secretaries, General Managers and MDs of other Industrial Development Corporations of major states like Maharashtra, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, etc. also exchanged their experiences and after thorough braim-storming sessions, few critical areas were also identified for improving efficiency in performance of respective PSUs of various states in the near future.
Amit, while getting exposed to latest trends in Corporate Governance, picked-up all relevant data and theories which could be used to make J&K SIDCO an ideal organization and top Corporation of J&K. He suggested adoption of latest e-Governance methodologies to provide maximum services through online medium which will result into minimization of human interface in all Corporate houses so as to maximize transparency and disposal of pendencies, which was widely appreciated across the board during the programme.
Professor Amitabh De, Director of IIM Shillong alongwith Prof T.K.Giri, Chairperson MDP endorsed the views and active participation of MD SIDCO Amit Sharma in this programme and expressed their gratitude for sharing J&K’s first-hand experiences during the entire program. They also invited Amit for visiting IIM Shillong in near future to share more such case-studies with IIM PGP students and faculty members. MD Amit Sharma was also felicitated at the conclusion of the programme.
MD SIDCO Amit Sharma also invited all the participants and faculty of IIM to conduct more case-studies in J&K alongwith experts of Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) in order to render professional advice to various PSUs of the state so as to help towards incorporation of more quality in functioning and adherence to latest corporate governance practices which was accepted by them.
