JAMMU, Apr 7: Secretary to Government, Administrative Reforms, Inspections and Trainings Department, Amit Sharma here today conducted an inspection-cum-maiden interaction visit at Government Ranbir Press Jammu wherein he visited all sections and work areas of the Press.
He was accompanied with Additional Secretaries, Syed Muried Shah and Sunaina Mehta and Director Finance, Suresh Koul who noted down all relevant issues for earliest resolution which came forth during the visit.
General Manager of the Press, Purshotam Sharma along with Accounts Officer, Vriti Uppal explained the working of all sections, however, Amit pointed out that there should be total cleanliness drive and hygienic conditions prevailing in all sections of the premises and extra-care should be taken in maintaining security of the premises as it is located adjacent to Ambphalla Jail.
Strict directions were given towards proper indexing of finished stock, stacking of raw material, labelling of all machines and sections of the Press.
Amit also pointed out that all dumped and unnecessary old stock of printed stationery should be disposed-off as scrap at the earliest after duly informing the concerned departments about its planned disposal drive if the same is not picked-up by them after proper reminders.
The Secretary mentioned that there was a proper need to overhaul the functioning of both Government Presses.
Directions were given to GM Jammu towards submitting a SWOT Analysis on working of Press along with a profitability-oriented plan to ensure commercial operations of both Press Units wherein it can help to enhance revenue generation and ensure optimal utilisation of latest machinery installed recently in these complexes.
He also directed Press officers to get ISO Certification done for both the Press Complexes which shall definitely help in enhancing productivity and working of the units.
Before leaving Ranbir Press Complex, the Secretary said attention should be paid towards HR issues of the staff with the re-introduction of dress code, uniforms, aprons and hand-gloves for ensuring professional decorum.
