AHMEDABAD, Oct 26:
In view of the political situation unfolding in Uttar Pradesh triggered by a bitter power struggle in the ruling Samajwadi Party, BJP president Amit Shah today cut short his Gujarat visit and rushed to Delhi.
“We have learned that Amitji has curtailed his Gujarat visit due to the political situation in UP and left for Delhi this afternoon,” said a BJP leader.
Shah landed here last night and was expected to be in the state for around two-three days to hold meetings with party leaders to discuss matters relating to the Assembly polls in Gujarat next year.
However, on learning about the crucial developments in UP, Shah left for Delhi this afternoon after meeting some BJP leaders at his residence, party sources said.
Earlier in the day, UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav paid a sudden visit to the Raj Bhawan to meet Governor Ram Naik and briefed him on the prevailing political situation in the poll-bound state.
Akhilesh’s sudden visit to Raj Bhavan came hours after SP’s state unit chief Shivpal Yadav expelled UP minister Tej Narain Pandey alias Pawan Pandey from the party for six years. (PTI)
