GUWAHATI:BJP president Amit Shah today held day-long consultations with party leadership from the North Eastern states at a meeting here.
The closed-door meeting, part of BJP˜Maha Sampark Abhiyan for North East Zone, was attended by more than a dozen national leaders of the party, including the conveners of the NE states, state unit presidents and leaders and others.
BJP national spokesperson Nalin Kohli, speaking to reporters, said the next phase of the party’s membership drive will be launched by end of this month, in which party workers will contact all those who had enrolled for BJP’s primary membership through its missed call initiative.
They will be given membership forms to be filled and those willing to devote time for the party will be given special training.
“We had received 11 crore new members in our membership drive. We plan to train 15 lakh dedicated workers across the country to build a strong network,” Mr Kohli said. On the party’s prospects in NE, he pointed that the membership has gone up ten times in Assam alone and the other states also had a good show.
“The BJP is emerging as the alternative to the corrupt ruling class and we will stand up to the expectations of the people,” he added. (AGENCIES)
