GUWAHATI, Jan 21: The English book “Assam’s Braveheart-Lachit Barphukan” by the famous writer and historian of Assam, Arup Kumar Dutta, which has been translated into 24 scheduled Indian languages, including Dogri, was released by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Srimanta Sankar Dev International Auditorium, here today.
Chief Minister of Assam, Dr Hemant Biswa Sarma and Education Minister Dr Ranuj Pegu among other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
The book has been translated into Dogri language by the well-known writer and translator, Sahitya Akademi and State Awardee Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’ whereas translation in Kashmiri language has been done by well-known writer, poet and translator Nisar Azam.
On this occasion, Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’, Nisar Azam and other translators were honored by the Government of Assam. The mega project of getting the book translated in 24 languages was accomplished under the supervision of Project Manager Aprajita Pujari.
The book, published by Assam Prakashan Board, is based on life, heroics and times of the great Assamese military leader of the 17th century, Lachit Barphukan.
