Amit terms Data Sharing as basis of successful Digital India Mission

Guwahati (Assam), Mar 27: Amit Sharma, Secretary to Government, Information, Communications & Technology (ICT) and Cooperation Departments, Government of Mizoram participated in an important workshop on Accelerating Innovation through Data Sharing as a keynote speaker, held in Guwahati, wherein he termed data sharing as the basis of successful Digital India Mission implementation all across the nation.
Amit Sharma, Secretary ICT & Cooperation, Mizoram was invited to share his perspectives in this all-important workshop organised by NIC Headquarters in collaboration with Government of Assam.
Amit Sharma talked about several successful contemporary models of e-Governance wherein data sharing led to success and qualitative improvements and he also mentioned that major areas like Data Security, Data Theft, Data De-Duplication, Data Cleansing need attention of the planners at the Central level while doing so.
He also shared that in his previous stints as IT Secretary of J&K and Ladakh, data secrecy and confidentiality were the major concerns due to strategic location of these UTs and now also, it holds good for Mizoram, as it is also sharing International Borders with Bangladesh and Myanmar on both sides.
He shared that the Big Data talk is happening all across the globe and it is felt that lot of precautions need to be taken while creating DC/DR models for various departments of the Government wherein several cloud models are currently available for the purpose, both in Government as well as private sector.
Amit, while attending this workshop, invited NIC team backed by Minsitry of Electronics & Technology, Government of India, to hold next workshop in Mizoram to create awareness on Data Sharing which shall help in achieving the ‘Ek Bharat’ Mission of MeitY in the real sense who commited to doing so in the near future.
Apart from ICT Secretary Mizoram Amit Sharma, Principal Secretary IT Assam, NIC DDG, former DGP Assam & currently, CIC Assam and several other experts shared their views on Data Sharing and Data Standardization / Uniformity being followed at the macro level.
