Amit terms smart policing as basis of smart cities

UDHAMPUR, Mar 15: Regional Director, Survey and Land Records (Ex-Officio Settlement Officer) Udhampur/Reasi Amit Sharma today led inaugural session of three-day Vertical Interaction Course on Smart Policing being held at premier Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) here.
This Course has been especially designed for senior officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police department of the ranks of SSP, SP, DySP and others to give them first hand exposure on Smart Policing and its various facets under the directions of ADG Mohammad Suleiman Salaria, Director SKPA, SSP Randheer Singh, Course Coordinator and Inspector Jagdev Sharma, Course Secretary.
Sharma delivered inaugural lecture on “Concept of SMART Policing, Roadmap Ahead, Introduction of Smart Policing initiatives in the Country” towards which he talked at length about the concept of S.M.A.R.T Policing which was recently defined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as S – Strict but Sensitive, M-Modern and Mobile, A-Alert and Accountable, R-Reliable and Responsive, T-Techno-Savvy and Trained. He mentioned that the pre-requisite of Smart Policing is the need of the hour to successfully implement twin Smart City Projects coming-up in Jammu and Srinagar soon.
Amit Sharma talked about several initiatives and contemporary examples of Smart Policing all over the country.
Apart from this, a proper Brain-Storming was also held in this session led by RD S&LR Amit Sharma and moderated by Course Coordinator SSP Randheer Singh which included lot of interactions and discussion relating to looming challenges for belt forces.
SSP JS Johar, SSP Standon Nurboo, SSP Swarn Singh, SP Rakesh Kumar, Additional SP Vinay Kumar, DySP Khursheed Ahmed, DySP Sachin Gupta, DySP Karanveer Singh, DySP Dheeraj Singh and many others participated in this session.
