Amit wins special award for E-Buses launch in J&K

JAMMU, Aug 24: Amit Sharma, Special Secretary to Government, Transport Department holding additional charge of J&K Road Safety Council, received a special award for successful launch of Electric or E-Buses in Jammu and Kashmir divisions of the State.
The award was presented to Amit Sharma during National Public Transport Summit held in Pune. The summit was organised by Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited in collaboration with Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation and Central Institute of Road Transport.
Amit Sharma, who was a special invitee in the Summit, was a key speaker here, wherein he led and moderated the most important session on “Public Private Partnership for Building Smarter and Safer Transport Solutions”. During moderation of this session, Amit particularly focused on discussing contemporary issues relating to different states thereby terming PPP mode in Transport Sector as a perfect alternative to counter challenges to bring transparency, accountability and efficiency in provision of optimal commutation solutions to the otherwise loss-making SRTCs in many states.
He concluded the Panel discussion with an idea of involvement of multiple stakeholders such as policy makers, corporate leaders, academic experts and stakeholders in reviving PSUs in different places with the help of PPP model which is best suited to the Smart Transport requirements in Smart Cities of the day.
All states and UTs present in this National Summit shared their respective initiatives taken in the field of public transport wherein J&K’s initiative was awarded after a qualitative briefing on 40 Electric Buses launch for both capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar was given by Amit Sharma, Special Secretary Transport J&K UT. He also shared several road safety related measures being taken here including recent one relating to launch of more than 10 bikes to oversee safety on J&K Highways and other State roads.
Those present in the Summit gave a standing ovation for J&K’s special initiatives for Road Safety and Public Transport when Amit Sharma received an award from Nayana Gunde, Chairman and Managing Director, Pune Mahanagar Praivahan Mahamandal Limited along with Dr Rajendra Jagtap, CEO, Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited.
