AMRITSAR, May 27: An art exhibition by Dr Amita Khare, Gwalior based painter and curated by O P Sharma, Director JKCCA Jammu, was inaugurated at the central gallery of Indian Academy of Fine Arts (IAFA), Amritsar.
S Rajinder Singh Chhina, president IAFA, was the chief guest whereas Dr P S Grover, general secretary IAFA was the guest of honour and Jang S Verman, a senior artist and columnist on art and culture was the special guest on the occasion.
Dr Khare is an active member of Jammu and Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts Jammu and on the persuasion of the Centre, she has put up the show at Amritsar. Twenty eight paintings in water colour, acrylics and oils have been displayed in the show.
The theme of her works is mainly landscapes. She said that her love towards nature has forced her to paint landscape. She has a desire to show the bond of love between the humans and the nature. According to her, “The bond is natural and must be entrusted. Without nature humans cannot survive”. The greens of hilly areas, blues of shadows and whites of water flowing through hills attract the viewer.
Dr Amita Khare has done MA (Painting) B Ed and PhD in Painting from Jiwali University, Gwalior and is Assistant Professor in the field Art. She has participated in solo/group shows and art camps at Kala Bithika Art Gallery, Gwalior, Kalavitika, Gwalior, IRA Gurbarga, Karnataka, Ujjain, Jhansi, New Delhi, Mumbai,Thimpu, Bhutan and M S Deshpandey Gallery, Mumbai. She has visited USA, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Maldives and Thailand in connection with various art activities. She has been awarded by various organizations throughout the country.
