SRINAGAR, May 21: Amitabh Kant, India’s G20 Sherpa and former CEO, NITI Aayog also called on Lieutenant Governor.
Kant, who is on a visit to J&K for a brainstorming session on ‘Rebranding of J&K Handicrafts’, shared his thoughts on driving growth and innovation in handicraft and handloom sector of the Union Territory.
Amitabh Kant also visited the Me & K Pashmina Centre to gain a deeper understanding of the intricate processes involved in creating Pashmina products. The visit provided an opportunity to observe the meticulous techniques of Pashmina Spinning, weaving, and embroidery, which are essential to producing these luxurious textiles.
During his visit, Amitabh Kant engaged with the skilled artisans at Me & K, learning firsthand about their dedication and expertise in the craft. The interaction highlighted the traditional methods and the artisans’ commitment to maintaining the high quality of Pashmina.
He was accompanied by Mehmood Shah, the Director of Handicrafts, and Vikram Jeet Singh, the Commissioner Secretary. Their presence underscored the significance of promoting and preserving the rich heritage of Pashmina craftsmanship. This visit not only showcased the artistry behind Pashmina production but also emphasized the importance of supporting local artisans and the handicraft industry.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Godrej Industries Group led by Burjis Godrej, Executive Director, Godrej Agrovet Ltd. met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan today.
The delegation discussed with the Lt Governor the existing investments and the further expansion of their business ventures in the UT of J&K.
The representatives of Godrej Industries Group also agreed to explore opportunities benefitting the overall farming ecosystem in J&K.
Rakesh Swami, Group President, Corporate Affairs; Ramaswamy Iyer, General Manager-PSO and Mishika Nayyar, Regional Manager Corporate Affairs Lead were also present during the meeting.
