JAMMU, Apr 9: Aam Mazdoor Kissan Vikas Party (AMKVP) today decided to merge its Jammu and Kashmir State unit into National Conference for the larger interests of the people and to strengthen secular forces.
Announcing this decision in presence of National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah here this morning, Vijay Kumar Pandey, President of the Aam Mazdoor Kissan Vikas Party said that he along with his associates feel the necessity of fighting polarizing forces, which are engineering divide among the people and working against the interests of the State.
Welcoming Pandey and his associates into National Conference fold, Dr Farooq Abdullah said his party’s doors were open for well meaning and public spirited people, who want to work for unity, amity and inclusiveness of Jammu and Kashmir that is passing through most difficult phase. He said National Conference is determined in its resolve to serve the people and steer out the state from political instability and unprecedented crisis.
Provincial President Devender Singh Rana also welcomed Pandey and his associates, saying National Conference is a mass movement that is ingrained in the political ethos of Jammu and Kashmir.
Vijay Kumar Pandey contested 2014 elections to Lok Sabha from Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency and elections to Legislative Assembly in 2008 and 2014.
