Amnesty scheme to benefit thousands of PDD defaulters: Sunil

JAMMU, Sept 12: The decision taken by the Jammu and Kashmir Government to extend the Amnesty scheme for PDD defaulters, will give big respite to thousands of people who had got inflated electricity bills.
This was stated by chief spokesperson of J&K BJP Sunil Sethi while welcoming the extension of the Amnesty scheme of electricity consumers by J&K Government. He said that the huge amount of arrears on amount of unpaid electricity bills was mainly containing the component of the penalty and interest.
“The Amnesty scheme which was given by the Government earlier could not be availed by thousands of people in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory because of the Covid pandemic. The decision taken by the Government now of extending the benefits and creating the provision for payment by installments is a welcome step,” Sethi said in a statement.
He asserted that it was a long pending demand of the affected person and was pursued by BJP leadership under the guidance of Party president Ravinder Raina who requested the Lieutenant Governor in this regard while a number of delegations of the Party had also meet the administration.
Sethi said that the BJP is committed to pick up all the causes of public so that the public is largely benefitted because of transparent and responsive Government. He, however, noted that the extension of the scheme is time linked and the public should be very cautious in seeking the implementation of the scheme within the time extended.
He called upon beneficiaries of the Amnesty scheme to go through the contents of the scheme and take immediate steps in availing the benefits thereof.
