SRINAGAR Jan 10: A boy from Anantnag has topped the Class 10th results in Kashmir valley by scoring 99.6 per cent marks in the annual examination held last year and the results of which were declared this evening.
Tabish Manzoor Khan of Radiant Public School, Anantnag, has topped the results by scoring 498 marks out of a total of 500. The second and third positions were held by two girls, Aneesa Haleen of Mallinson Girls School here, and Hiba Intikhab of Shah-e-Hamdan Memorial school of Shopian district. They have secured 491 and 490 marks respectively out of the 500.
The overall percentage of students who have passed the exams stand at 65.27, of which pass percentage of boys is 67.28 and girls pass percentage is 63.04.
Galib Guru, the son of executed Afzal Guru, has secured 474 marks and stood at 19th position in the Kashmir Division. Galib is the student of Welkin School at Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Continuing the trend of past, the government schools have lagged behind private schools in the results declared today. Reports said 50.46 percent students of Government schools have qualified the examinations, while 78.91 percent of students in private schools have passed.
“14,716 have been declared successful out of a total of 29,162 students of government schools who had appeared in the examination, while 24,981 students out of 31657of private schools have qualified for the next class,” a board official said.
While 2296 students secured A1 grade, 5186 A2, 6036 B1, 7005 B2, 8176 C1, 6013 C2 and 741D. In English 60608 appeared and 70.63 per cent students have qualified; in Mathematics out of 60099, 65.18 per cent students have qualified; of 357 students in Hindi 92.86 per cent students passed; in Urdu 81.73 percent students passed out of 59,693; in Science 60336, 74.66 per cent students passed and in Social Science 60224, 73.89 per cent students passed.
In the language subjects, 92.60 per cent students have passed in Arabic out of 1054; in Kashmiri, only 39 students have passed and all of them have passed. In Computer Science out of 42 students, 60 per cent students have qualified.
