JAMMU, Apr 3: Pledging to take forward environmental mission of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, senior PDP leaders Haji Anayat Ali, Chairman J&K Legislative Council and MLA Darhal Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali kicked off plantation drive at Zanana Park by planting saplings.
The programme was organized by PDP leader Vikram Singh to pay rich tribute to Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in which various PDP leaders joined and planted sapling.
Talking to media persons, on the occasion, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that Mufti was concerned about environment and he always encouraged plantation for neat and clean atmosphere. He said that Mufti was well aware about environmental degradation and he wanted to play vital role in balancing the environment for future generations. Assuring to take forward his mission, Zulfkar said that it would be one of the top agenda of the Government.
Showing concern on global warming, Chowdhary Zulfkar said that present generation should do a little bit contribution for the future generations. He said that earth is warming up and glaciers are melting which are badly affecting the ecosystem. He said that there is need to preserve forests and save environment from more degradation. “We have right to develop but it should not be at the cost of environment”, he said adding that people must use environment friendly material in their houses and business establishments and contribute for saving earth from more harness.
Other leaders of PDP, who participated in plantation programme included Nazir Ahmed Laway (MP), Syed Farooq Andrabi (MLA), Advocate Qammar Hussain (MLA), Shah Mohammad Tantry (MLA), Rangil Singh, Daman Bhasin, Shahzad Khan, Captan Anil Gour, RK Bali, Ashiq Hussain Khan, Amreek Reen Singh, Hussain Ali Wafa, Abdul Majeed Bhat, Vikram Singh, Giresh Sharma and Pankaj Gupta.
