SRINAGAR, Oct 19: Noted poet, writer and politician Dr Darakhshan Andrabi was honoured with `Khillat-e-Noor’, a prestigious Kashmir’s literary award instituted in the name of Sheikh-ul-Aalam Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Norani.
The award was presented by Justice (Retd) G N Gowhar, a veteran researcher and famed writer, in an impressive function held at Charar-e-Sharief last evening as a part of Urs of Alamdar. Dr Andrabi was felicitated with a citation and a trophy. A large number of poets, writers and religious leaders were present on the occasion. The award was given to Andrabi for her portrayal of the great spiritual traditions in Kashmir in her poetry.
A symposium on contribution of Sheikh-ul-Aalam was also held on the occasion under the aegis of Sahitya Academy in which many people participated.
