SRINAGAR, Oct 24: Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi today laid foundation for the new grand mosque in the campus of Jenab Sahib, Soura in Srinagar.
This mosque will be a high tech construction with very high standards. The lay out of the mosque was finalised by J&K Waqf Board in consultation with the local people. Dr Andrabi later visited Dargah Hazratbal and laid the foundation for new Sanitary Complex for females in the Campus.
Dr Darakhshan was accompanied by the Tehsildar and Executive Magistrate of the Board Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin, Executive Engineer Tariq Kaloo. Dr Andrabi addressed a gathering of locals in Jenab Sahib, Soura after the foundation laying ceremony and thanked the people for their support to the Board in paving the way for this new construction.
“The very old mosque here was not safe and on the demand of the people of the area, the new mosque lay out was finalised and approved. I am happy that in the presence of the local representatives, we have begun the work today”, Andrabi said.
She said that transparency in the Board has led to a continuous infrastructure development at all shrines in the UT for the past two and a half years, out of the finances of the Board.
After foundation laying ceremony at Dargah Hazratbal, Andrabi spoke to the media and said that the new Sanitary Complex will be dedicated to females and it will overcome the shortage of sanitary facilities for females at the shrine. She said that both the projects will be completed within the given time frame.
Later, she chaired a meeting of the Waqf Board staff to discuss the future projects and the progress on their execution. “Transparency in the Board has fetched magical results, evident at the ground”, Darakhshan said.
