JAMMU, Dec 29: Chairperson of Waqf Development Committee of Ministry of Minority Affairs Dr Darakhshan Andrabi today reached Jaora in Madhya Pradesh along with the team of Central Waqf Council and inspected Waqf Shrines and Properties.
She held meetings with the Waqf Management of Madhya Pradesh and took stock of the implementation of schemes of the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs in the State.
Dr Darakhshan Andrabi later laid the foundation stone of a huge Musafir Khana dedicated to the name of Fatima-tu-Zahra (as) in Jaora under MP Waqf.
Dr Andrabi was accompanied by Central Waqf Council Members Haneef Ali and Qari Mohammad Haroon.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Andrabi said, “Waqf is now managing its resources and finances through digital transparent system and after seven decades of loot of Waqf properties and financial resources by the political class and community leaders, now Waqf is in a position to multiply its assets and construct public utility structures out of the savings and its reliability on Government funding has minimized”.
She said soon Waqf will be in a position to create state of art and quality educational institutions, medical centers and employment generating units throughout the country.
She said that she was happy to learn that this structure will be constructed with Waqf Funds only.
In reply to a question, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi said that soon J&K will re-constitute its new Waqf Board under Central Waqf Act and the Waqf system in the Muslim majority territory will be in place with new digital system of management so that scope for complaints of loot, misappropriation of funds and misuse of Waqf properties in J&K is stopped.
