Anganwadi, other scheme workers stage protest at Jantar Mantar

JAMMU, Dec 11: A massive protest demonstration was staged by all Scheme Workers like Anganwadi Workers, Mid-Day Meal Workers, ASHA Workers, NHM Workers and others at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
The protest was held under the banner of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) and thousands of Scheme Workers from across the country participated in it wherein 200 were from J&K.
BMS has demanded that all the Scheme Workers must be given equal pay for equal work along with social security.
Meanwhile, a deputation of BMS also met Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Samriti Irani and submitted to her a charter of demands.
The deputation also comprised state general secretary BMS J&K, Neelam Sharma and she submitted a memorandum of demands of Anganwadi Workers demanding revision of wages of Anganwadi Workers from Rs. 600 as in other States Rs. 4000 and 9000 are given to the Anganwadi workers.
She also said that there is no provision of promotion for Anganwadi Workers in the new HR Policy of J&K Government and their wages are kept pending for 8-10 months without any reason.
The Union Minister listened to the deputation and assured necessary steps at the earliest.
