JAMMU, Feb 2: Highligh-ting their demands, Anganwari workers and helpers of various projects of Jammu Division, under the banner of J&K National Trade Union Front, organized a massive protests/ demonstration in front of MA Stadium, here today.
Similar protest demonstration was held at Press Enclave Srinagar where Taslema Subham and Famida Akhtar led the protesters.
At Jammu. these workers and helpers assembled in front of MA Stadium and raised slogans in support of their demands. They urged the Government to enhance their honorarium at par with the adjoining States of Haryana, Punjab and Delhi where Rs 10,000 are paid as monthly honorarium to the workers.
They were also demanding regularization of Anganwari Wworkers and helpers, release of pending honorarium, fixation of final seniority lists and holding of DPC, implementation of New Pension Schemes for workers and helpers, implementation of free Group Insurance, release of money for mobile charges and MPR, cancellation of illegal promotion orders etc.
“The State Government utilize the services of Anganwari worker and helpers in more than a dozen departments and Central schemes but there was no concern to improve their economic condition,” the Workers lamented and added that honorarium of the Anganwari workers and helpers has not bean increased for the last 10 years.
While addressing the protesting workers, Mohd Gafoor Dar, State president of
National Trade Union Front condemned the anti workers policies of the State Government and ICDS higher authorities.
The other senior leaders of Anganwari workers, who addressed the protest demonstration, included Rattana Devi .Vijay Kumari, Mahajabeen Suman Suri, Ashi Kumari, Rajinder Kumar and Lalita Devi.
