JAMMU, Dec 12: Former Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Chairman of Social Justice Committee and Councillor of Ward 12, Jeet Angral along with Councillor of Ward 69, Gurmeet Kour Randhawa here today counted resent developments initiated by JMC in the city.
Addressing a press conference Angral said that the new Mayor Rajinder Sharma has so far met about 250 delegations after assuming office.
He claimed that the Mayor has directed JMC officials to work with Councillors and take cognizance of public grievances related to sanitation, enforcement etc and resolve the same within time.
“After assuming office the Mayor regularised 600 casual labourers of JMC and removed paid parking at Super Specialty Hospital,” Angral said.
He mentioned about the visit of Mayor, Chairman Swacch Bharat Committee and Councillors to Bhubaneswar to understand solid waste management system there to implement the same in Jammu city to get rid of wastes and said that work on this project has started in Jammu.
Angral also mentioned about campaign against corruption under the slogan ‘Brashtachar Mukt Bharat’ which was attended by more than 6000 people.
Other developments mentioned included the one in which directions were given to JMC Commissioner for making roster and issuing licenses to street vendors within their Wards.
Renovation of General House Meeting (GHM) Hall and fixing GHM twice a month for two days were other such developments.
Councillor Gurmeet Kour Randhwa said that PM Modi, Union Government and J&K Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha organized programmes like Jan Abhiyaan and My Town My Pride which were successfully.
“These programme had three main objectives-public outreach, strengthening grass roots democracy and to offer services delivery at door steps of people,” she maintained adding: “In these camps birth certificates and Adhaar Card registrations were done on the spot.” Randhawa further said that in such programmes cycles were distributed through Social Welfare Department and cheques, keys were distributed to beneficiaries under PMAY scheme.
“Earlier Tourism, Floriculture, JMC and other Departments used to work individually but now it will be done under one planning and coordination,” she said.
The Councillor also said that digitization of the administration is being done to make system transparent and corruption free.
The Councillors also said that officials of different departments were instructed to visit every Ward after every 15 days and work with Councillors at ground level to resolve issues at the earliest.
