People in various parts of Poonch and Rajouri districts are angry on the inability of PWD to either undertake or complete some vital road links that have been waiting for nearly three decades. The link from Bafliaz to Mandi via Fagal and Kallar Katal which had been sanctioned in 1977 has been left untouched. Sarpanchs and other senior villagers have expressed their resentment to Government’s apathy towards the road development in rural areas. In Surankot, a large number of villagers staged a massive demonstration and blocked the Jammu – Poonch road demanding that building of the Bafliaz-Mandi link be undertake forth. Likewise in Udhampur district, people of Panchri tehsil also lodged complaints that the link road from Udhampur to picturesque Pancheri was in dilapidated condition and the PWD never cared for its repair. Sarpanch of Pancheri said that in all other services like health, education, and power etc. the Pancheri area remained totally neglected.
These complaints from a vast area of Poonch, Rajouri and Udhampur districts indicate that people are not satisfied with developmental activity in these areas. It is the duty of the District administration to provide relief to the villagers and take remedial measures.
