LEH, Mar 12: Anjuman Imamiya Leh has alleged medical negligence on the part of doctors in handling the case of Mohammad Ali who suspected for Covid-19 died on 7th March following prosthetic complications.
Addressing a press conference, Anjuman Imamiya President Ashraf Ali Barcha flanked by Vice President Sheikh Nazir and nominated Councillor Sayeeda Banoo alleged that there was a medical negligence as claimed by the deceased’s son in the recent death of Mohammad Ali who was suspected for Covid-19 but later found to be negative for covid-19 virus.
Ashraf said that during his interaction with the deceased’s family members in presence of Hill Council Chairman and Divisional Commissioner, deceased’s son narrated the entire episode how the patient treated for Covid-19 and kept on shifting from one place to another suspecting him for Covid-19 without knowing his past illness history.
He alleged that without waiting for the outcome of his medical test report, his body was handed over to his family which created doubts among people suspecting him for Covid-19 as the result all the community avoided them and his son had to do the burial procedure without anyone’s help.
Ashraf alleged that the medical department fails to follow the protocol in handling the dead body and added that it should not happen in future with anyone.
Anjuman Imamiya also appreciated the two nurses Tsering Yangzom and Tsering Angmo who volunteered to serve the two Covid-19 positive cases patients and announced to reward them suitably. He added that Anjuman Imamiya members are willing to support the Health Department and Administration to curb the Covid-19 cases in Ladakh.
Applauding the efforts of administration in bringing the Ladakhi pilgrimage from Iran, he appeals the UT Administration to take up the issue with concern Ministry to bring back the remaining stranded passenger in Iran.
