Anjuman Imamiya demands land for Shia community

LEH, Nov 14: Anjuman Imamiya Leh has reiterated its demand for allotment of land for Eidgah purpose in Leh.
Addressing a press conference, here today, Anjuman Imamiya president Asharf Ali Barcha said that the Shia community representatives had met different political parties and CEC in this regard but there was no positive response on their demand.
Ashraf explained that due to growing population of the community, they have been demanding land so that Shias could perform Namaz in open space. “Nothing has been done by the administration to allot us land but on the other hands number of individuals and societies have been given land by the administration,” he alleged and added that it was the duty of Hill Council that justified decision must be made.
Ashraf Ali said that the Shia community has been supporting the demands of UT with legislative power but seeing the Council attitude, they doubt whether their decision on supporting UT was right or wrong.
Anjuman Imamiya Youth president Muzaffar Hussian alleged that there was always discrimination towards Shia community but they would sit quite now. He further added that Anjuman Youth wing has been providing blood to needy for the past many year under the banner of Alamdar Health Services but administration failed to provide them a piece of land for which they had approached even Chief Minister office.
Majlis-e-Ullama Shiekh Nazir also addressed the press conference and termed the demands as long pending and genuine.
Terming the Hill Council as temple of justice, former Minority Executive Councillor Abasa Abidi said that behaviour and attitude of present CEC was hurting the sentiment of Shia community.
The Anjuman leaders also announced that Shia community will hold a protest rally tomorrow in Leh.
