Anna Hazare Movement activist for deferring Assembly poll in J&K

JAMMU, Mar 20: Social activist and Core Committee Member Anna Hazare Anti Corruption Movement, Tarun Uppal has said that the present situation is not conducive for the holding of Assembly elections in the State.
In a statement issued here, today Uppal said that the Government should give main thrust to restore peace in Kashmir Valley by weeding out terrorism and brining the misguided youth in the political mainstream.
Uppal who was addressing a meeting of his organization said that present situation in the Valley is not conducive for holding the elections as the terrorist activities are still continuing and the martyrdom of brave heart soldiers clearly shows that the atmosphere in not conducive for elections.
He said after the February 14, suicide attack on CRPF convoy in Pulwama district in which 44 brave hearts of the Force attained martyrdom, the killings of innocent people and security forces continued since then which indicates that the Government instead of giving thrust on elections should take a drastic step in flushing out the subversive elements for restoration complete peace in the Valley.
