Excelsior Correspondent

RAFIABAD, Sept 27: Senior vice president of JKPCC and former Minister  Abdul Gani Vakil today appealed Chief Minister to announce special relief package for traumatized Horticulturalists and Agriculturalists whose investments got washed away at the peak season.
He said that these people are not now in a position to stand up or bear losses and  inordinate delay in announcing relief package will demoralize said brethren furthermore. Lakhs of people are directly and indirectly associated with fruit industry and solely dependent on it for their livelihood but recent floods have  left them high and dry, he added and  demanded that all loans borrowed by Agriculturalists and Horticulturalists for their respective business must be waived of by different banks and Government needs to play its role in this behalf.
Mr  Vakil was addressing a meeting of fruit growers in Nowpora Kalan Rafiabad today. Fruit growers apprised him  about the loss worth crores which incurred due to floods, heavy rains and hailstorm to the fruit growers.
Mr Vakil, in his address, lambasted Modi Government for extending only lip service to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and not doing something tangible on the ground. He said that present Central Government must adopt the same path which was adopted by UPA Government to rehabilitate the earthquake victims of 2005.
Stating that the Chief Minister must project demands to the Central Government without wasting any time, he said that State Government has failed miserably to tackle the crisis to the extent that primary steps like dewatering of flood affected areas has not been taken up till date.
