Speaking to media persons here, Agarwala expressed that the decision has bolstered public confidence in the democratic process.
“The All India Bar Association and the legal community view this as a significant step forward, as it strengthens people’s faith in democracy,” Agarwala stated.
He added that the establishment of an elected Government would bring good governance, benefiting the entire region.
Addressing issues specific to the legal fraternity in Jammu and Kashmir, Agarwala acknowledged that many concerns have been addressed following interactions with Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal.
One of the critical issues discussed was the inadequate infrastructure of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), which had hampered its proper functioning.
“The Union Law Minister has assured that steps will be taken to strengthen the CAT, including providing a proper building to facilitate both online and offline appearances,” Agarwala said.
Agarwala also highlighted the discontent among lawyers regarding the proposed relocation of the High Court building.
He emphasized that the current location allows lawyers to attend cases in other courts within the same complex.
“The Union Law Minister has assured that the decision to move the High Court will be left to the local advocates, who will decide through a secret ballot,” he noted.
Additionally, Agarwala raised concerns over the transfer of legal document registration process to revenue staff, which has made it challenging for the lawyers to attend hearings in distant locations.
To address this, he said, the Union Law Minister has assured that revenue courts would be established within District Court premises, enabling both lawyers and litigants to handle registrations more conveniently.
