JAMMU, Feb 26: A two-day Annual Book Fair -2020 has been organised by State Institute of Education Jammu under the aegis of Directorate of School Education Jammu at Teacher Auditorium, Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
Hirdesh Kumar Singh, Commissioner/ Secretary to Government, School Education Department J&K, inaugurated the Book Fair, which is being supervised by J K Sudan, Joint Director (trgs)/ Principal, SIE Jammu. Singh emphasised on the importance of reading books and stressed to inculcate the habit of reading books amongst the children.
Anuradha Gupta, Director School Education Jammu and Arun Manhas, State Project Director Samagara J&K, were guests of honour on the occasion.
The Director School Education also interacted with the subject-experts and stressed upon the need to update the knowledge of teachers regarding different pedagogical approaches as well as enrichment of content and expressed that such type of fair provide a right kind of platform to the teachers and learners.
The vibrant stalls with a lot of books on 30 different disciplines and general books ranging from textbooks, reference books, books on politics, religion, literature and science were also displayed in the fair. A total of 25 publishers/ booksellers exhibited the valuable books on the stalls and the committees of various subject experts were framed to scrutinize these books.
For the very first time, the Publication Division of NCERT New Delhi along with their books also participated in the Book Fair. After the critical analysis of books in different stalls, the books selected will be recommended for enriching libraries and encourage reading appetite in young learners.
Students also visited the fair and showed keen interest in different books exhibited on stalls. Various dignitaries from Education Department including Chief Accounts Officer, CEOs, DIET Principals, ZEOs, various Heads of Institutions and academicians attended the fair.
