Annual Harmukh Ganga Yatra concludes

GANDERBAL, Sept 4: With the return of holy Ganga Charri to Naraan Naag, Kashmiri Pandits three -day long historic annual Harmukh Ganga (Gangbal) Yatra 2014, organized by the Harmukh Ganga Trust (HGT) and All Parties Migrants’ Coordination Committee (APMCC) at the mountainous North East Harmukh Range, concluded here on Wednesday.
The Yatra started under the leadership of Vinod Pandit, Chairman APMCC and general secretary, HGT on September 1 from Zyestha Devi Temple Srinagar and reached Naraan Naag where Chhari Pujan of holy Ganga Chhari was performed and after trekking 18km long hilly terrain Holy Chhari reached Gangbal situated at an altitude of 14,500 feet above the sea level on the same day.
The holy Chhari was installed at the shrine and Ganga Puja performed amid religious fervour on September 2.
The pilgrims also performed Mahashardha of the martyrs and all the departed souls of the community on the banks of holy Harmukh Ganga. Vinod Pandit, Chairman APMCC and general secretary of the Gangbal Trust said the HGT oganised annual Gangbal Yatra from September 1, 2014 to September 3, 2014 through proper registration and issuance of identity cards for security reasons during the pilgrimage.
King Bharati, Vice President of the Trust said that all arrangements of boarding and lodging for yatris right from Srinagar to holy shrine and back were made by the Trust.
Amit Raina from Delhi said that yatra was smooth despite heavy rainfall and winds and added yatries reached Srinagar safe and sound.
