RAMNAGAR, Apr 4: 34th annual pilgrimage of Chountra Mata concluded today with a record devotees swarming like bees in and around the historical temple of Chountra Mata in the midst of a beautiful hilly area separating Ramnagar and Majalta tehsils in Udhampur district.
Not only people from Majalta and Ramnagar but from the entire state take part in this annual pilgrimage. This is now after three years that a full fledged Yatra was managed and done.
Ranbir Singh Pathania, BJP Spokesperson & former MLA Ramnagar, who is Chairman of Sri Chountara Mata Parbandhak Committee, was himself at the helm of the affairs monitoring the issues of drinking water, power supply, management, protection and all aspects with a view to ensuring that a successful yatra is concluded this year.
Kulwant Singh, new President of the Committee; Sagar Verma, outgoing President and other members of the Committee supported by dozens of local volunteers managed the Yatra painstakingly.
Moreso, Mr Pathania also took part in annual Sri Durga Path/Yagya which was conducted by Khem Raj Shastri on the eve of said yatra. Mr Pathania also released a documentary on Chountra Mata as well as the popular shrines of Ramnagar, Sri Pingla Mata, Sri Chountra Mata and Sri Marada Mata, Sukrala Mata and Balasundri Mata, Sri Narsingh Ji temples at Ramnagar, Majalta, Aapshambhu temples of Dalsar and Khoon, Vasuki Naag temples at Dudu Basantgarh and Kote. The documentary has been compiled by Arjun Verma and his enterprising team.
On the occasion, Mr Pathania said that this region has exquisite climate, beautiful topography which qualifies for nurturing it as a tourist destination.
