Another child dies of mysterious disease

UDHAMPUR, Jan 30: Another death of a child because of mysterious disease in Ramnagar was reported even as no fresh case of the ailment has come into light since January 15.
With this, death toll because of the mysterious disease has risen to 11, while six affected children are undergoing treatment at different hospitals.
According to Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr Renu Sharma, a two-year old child from Dihari village in Ramnagar Medical block, who was earlier admitted in SMGS Hospital following fever and other symptoms of the mysterious disease, died two days back. Without informing the doctors, the family members on their own had taken the child back home where he died.
As already reported, incidents of some deaths of children in Ramnagar Medical Block because of a mysterious disease have triggered panic among the locals and also sounded an alert for the Health Department, which rushed teams of doctors to ascertain the reasons of ailment. Medical teams from PGI and other national institutions have also taken blood samples of the patients for finding out cause of the mysterious disease but so far the reports are inconclusive.
Total 17 such cases of mysterious ailment have come to light. While 11 victims died, six others are undergoing treatment at SMGS Hospital Jammu, PGI Chandigarh and Ludhiana.
