Following the search and recovery of the contraband, the accused was arrested and booked in case FIR number 155/2024 under the relevant Sections of the NDPS Act at Police Station Bakshi Nagar.
Muktiyar, a constable with the Armed Police 12th Battalion in Zewan, Srinagar, has been suspended with immediate effect.
Police’s preliminary investigations indicated Muktiyar’s alleged involvement in a wider drug syndicate operating in Jammu, suspected of targeting local youth and contributing to overdose-related incidents.
Police are also probing his financial assets to trace any property acquired through illicit means.
The arrest followed another case from November 6, where a constable and his two wives were apprehended in Janipur with heroin-like substances, mobile phones, and cash.
This is the third such FIR this week under the zero-tolerance policy against drug peddling launched by SDPO City West Jammu, Dr Satish Bhardwaj.
Bhardwaj, recently awarded the Home Minister’s Medal for excellence in investigation, is personally overseeing the probe alongside SP City North, Brijesh Sharma.
