Bakery shops, dry fruits delivery allowed

JAMMU, Apr 24: Kargil district in the Union Territory of Ladakh, which had become Corona-free only a day before, today recorded another COVID-19 positive case taking total number of cases to 19 and active to 16 while 205 more Iran pilgrims were airlifted from different parts of Rajasthan to the UT today.
However, Jammu didn’t report any fresh Corona case today keeping the region’s tally static at 57 and active cases to 39. Seventeen patients have been treated and discharged while there has been one death in Jammu region.
Another COVID-19 positive case was today reported from village Faroona in Sankoo area of Kargil district. He has been shifted to COVID Hospital.
He was 55 years old man, who had returned from pilgrimage on March 3 but was tested negative then. In fresh sample, he was tested positive. His contacts are being traced.
Kargil district was declared COVID-free a day before as its lone left out patient was treated and discharged from the hospital. With one case reported today in Kargil district, the tally in Union Territory of Ladakh of total Coronavirus cases has gone up to 19 but, out of them, there were only three positive cases as 16 patients have been treated and discharged.
Two other active positive cases were in Leh district.

Meanwhile, third batch of 205 pilgrims from Iran was flown to Leh today from different parts of Rajasthan where they were held up for over a month after evacuation from Iran where they had gone on pilgrimage.
In a tweet, Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Saugat Biswas said out of 205 pilgrims who arrived today at Leh Airport, 193 belonged to Kargil and 12 to Leh.
“Administration thanks the Ministries of GoI, Indian Air Force and Indian Army for all cooperation,” Biswas said.
From Leh, the Kargil pilgrims were sent to the district in SRTC buses.
All the returnees will be subjected to 14-day administrative quarantine in Leh and Kargil district headquarters respectively.
Meanwhile, the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs of the Government of India today permitted resumption of bakery shops and home delivery of dry fruits in J&K.
“The bakery shops will function without being used as cafeteria/restaurant while only home delivery of dry fruits will be allowed without opening the shops,” a Government order said.
However, the Government has directed the shopkeepers to maintain social distancing and start functioning after obtaining passes from the Deputy Commissioners.
