NEW DELHI, Nov 17: Dr. Shakti Kumar Gupta, Head of the Hospital Administration-cum-Medical Superintendent at AIIMS, New Delhi, has bought laurels and fame to the State as he became the first Indian to be appointed to the Board of Advisors of the coveted Center for Health Systems Innovation at Oklahoma State University, USA.
The Center, which focuses on a systems approach to innovation and entrepreneurship in health and explores IT enabled new business models for healthcare delivery, is a collaborative initiative of the Spears School of Business and Center for Health Sciences at Oklahoma State University, USA.
Other members of the board include Dave Aylward, Senior Advisor, Global Health and Technology, Ashoka; Jason Hwang, Co-founder of Innosight and co-author with Clayton Christensen of Innovators Prescription; Nick Larusso, Medical Director of the Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation; Col Ron Poropatich, Executive Director of the Center for Military Medicine at UPMC and past Deputy of Center for Innovation in the Army Medical Services; Lynn Mytelka, former Director of United Nations University-INTECH and currently a Professorial Fellow with the Knowledge and Industrial Dynamics group at the UNU Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology; and Neal Patterson, Founder and CEO of Cerner and Forbes top CEO, etc.
Dr. Gupta will visit USA early next year for the meeting of the Board of Advisors scheduled for 3rd January at Stillwater, Oklahoma and this Board will meet twice a year hereon. Dr. Gupta was also recently invited to attend the 4th Pan American Regional Conference of WADEM in Leesburg, Virginia, USA and he shared his experience regarding Ambulance Design & Development in India.
Dr Gupta is also Fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences 2009; Institute of Hospital Engineers, PGIME, Chandigarh; International Medical Sciences Academy, New Delhi 2009 and he was honoured with Pratibhashi Samman -2002, Chikitsa Ratan-2010 and Sharam Shree-2010.
Dr Gupta is member of various committees, expert consultant to Ministry of External Affairs, GOI, WHO and UNOPS consultant. He has also authored many books on hospital and health care administration, emergency services, hospital store management, modern trends in planning and designing in hospitals etc.
